What is VERA?

VERA is a privacy-preserving system that lets online shoppers prove they actually purchased a product before leaving a review — without revealing any personal information.

The Problem

Fake reviews erode consumer trust in e-commerce. Current verification systems require linking your identity to your review, sacrificing privacy for credibility.

How It Works

1 When you buy a product, the store issues a digitally signed credential to your VERA Vault.

2 When you write a review, VERA creates a mathematical proof on your device that confirms you are a real buyer.

3 The merchant verifies this proof. They know the review is from a genuine buyer, but they cannot determine who.

Privacy Technology

VERA uses a special type of digital signature called BBS+ that enables selective disclosure. Think of it like showing a bouncer that you are old enough to enter a venue — without revealing your actual birthday, name, or address. You prove what is necessary and nothing more.
